The ESRB fails to recognize a Wii version of the game in a recent update.

Despite numerous Wonder Boy games having already appeared on the Wii's Virtual Console, it appears as though Monster World IV will not be heading to the service in the near future in North America.

The game, which was released for the Sega Genesis, was never released in North America, which is unfortunate considering that many people claim the game to be the best in the series.

According to the ESRB, Sega is preparing to release Monster World IV on the PlayStation NetWork and Xbox Live Arcade, though no mention of a Wii release is mentioned.

On the other side of the ocean, both the European PEGI rating board and Australian OFLC have rated the game for release in their respective territories.

The game has already been released on the Japanese Virtual Console so it will be interesting to see if North American Wii owners ever get their hands on Monster World IV.
