Tecmo Producer Koichi Yagamuchi speaks out on the way that the game will cater to the DS hardware.
In an interview with SiliconEra, Tecmo Producer Koichi Yagamuchi recently elaborated on how Monster Rancher DS would utilize the DS hardware in the upcoming title.
When asked how monsters were created using the stylus, he replied, " An advanced algorithm is used to recognize the drawn figures. As a result, a different monster is born depending on the size, shape and location of the drawing." In previous iterations of Monster Rancher on PlaysStation, the game would read music CDs and generate monsters based on the content of the CD.
Yagamuchi also elaborated on the Magic Words system, which uses the DS Microphone., "It was not that difficult to develop the magic word system, because there is a standard voice recognition program for the DS. However, the dictionary file had to be devised different from the usual way to correspond to all of the possible words that can be spoken. Of course, we also had to tune the system to support English."
Yagamuchi also said there are other ways he would like to use the DS hardware in the game., " Outside of the DS hardware, we are working on a project to create monsters based on your Wi-Fi access point information."
He also revealed other details about the game, such as the three new monsters that will be included in the title: "Abyss, the tool of the god of death; Falco, the muscle wrestler; and Zenon, a feared monster from the pantheon."
Monster Rancher DS is set to release in North America in March 2010.
