Neal decided not to pre-order any Amiibo. Here's his report from the retail trenches as he tries to catch'em all.

When everyone was pre-ordering Amiibo a few months ago, I sat idly by. My grandfather, my last living grandparent, passed away a few weeks ago, less than two years after my grandmother passed away. It sucks. I'm not going into too much sappy detail other than my grandparents were fabulous, amazing people who will always be a part of my life. Instead, I'm going to focus on how video games helped me through coping with their untimely passings.

Nintendo is lagging behind its competition with multimedia support. It's time for a change.

Whenever a Nintendo system launches, the only thing that truly concerns me is what games will I be able to play. After a while I crave more. That's when applications come in handy. With the 3DS and Wii U, apps have been few and far between, and if Nintendo wants to compete for sales, they should reach out and bring more to their platforms to add more value.

What will Pokemon be like in 2019? We have the answer.

If you haven’t noticed, Pokémon has more or less become an annual franchise. In North America at least, a main series Pokémon game (or set of main series games) has come out every year since 2009.
